THE 28-year wait for the SEA Games badminton men’s singles crown finally ended at
the Malawati Stadium in Shah Alam yesterday. Malaysian number one Roslin Hashim
lived up to expectation to defeat Thailand’s Boonsak Polsana 17-14, 15-3 in the final.
The last time Malaysia won the men’s singles title was in 1973 through Punch
Gunalan. Roslin’s triumph yesterday was also Malaysia’s second in the competition.
On Tuesday, the men’s team scored an upset 3-2 win over Indonesia to take the
gold medal.
