Wong Choong Hann's semi-finals berth at the Realkredit Denmarkhas seen him break back into the top five of the world ranking, and regain his status as Malaysia's top singles player.
Roslin Hashim replaced the 24-year-old as Malaysia's number one earlier this year after a wrist injury saw Wong miss out on the Korea, All England and Swiss. But the left-handed Commonwealth champion bounced back during the latter half of 2001, having narrowly missed out on two Grand Prix titles in Singapore and China, and reaching the final four of the 6* event in Denmark last week.
Wong (pictured) finds himself at number five this week, behind an unchanged top four of Xia Xuanze, Chen Hong, Peter Gade and Taufik Hidayat.
China's young superstar Bao Chunlai, Denmarkchampion, rockets up the world rankings yet again and find himself inside the top 20 at number 15. This is the second mammoth jump for the 19-year-old World Junior Champion in as many weeks. Up 29 places, Bao has risen a total of 71 rungs in a fortnight, and has given a strong warning of things to come.
A runner-up spot in Cagen sees compatriot Lin Dan break into the top ten at number nine.
Zhou Mi still stands firm at the top of the women's singles list this week in spite of her semi-final loss in Denmark - she's over 50 points adrift from her nearest rival, Zhang Ning, who's up to second place this week.
World Champion Gong Ruina drops to third place, and Camilla Martin finds herself back in the top five, at number five, after her home win at the weekend. Unlucky loser Pi Hongyan is up eight places to number eight, while teammate Hu Ting has also made notable strides in the right direction - she's improved 14 places to 12th position, tantalisingly close to the top ten.
No change at the top of the men's doubles list, with Wijaya/Budiarto, Gunawan/Haryanto and Sogaard/Laugesen hogging the top three spots. Denmarkchampions, Martin Lundgaard Hansen and Lars Paaske are up one place to number four, and Malaysia's Chew Choon Eng and Chan Chong Ming complete the top five, up two positions from last week.
China, as expected, still dominate the top spots in the women's doubles rankings - world champions Gao Ling and Huang Sui head the table, with almost a 50-point buffer between them and closest rivals Zhang Wei and Wei Yili, who are closely followed by Huang Nanyan and Yang Wei in third place.
Denmark's Helene Kirkegaard and Rikke Olsen punctuate the list of Chinese names - after their home win in Cagen on Sunday, they've improved one place to number four, ahead of Chen Lin and Jiang Xuelian.
Nova Widianto and Marisa Vita are up to number five this week, and England's Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms move into seventh place after their silver medal in Denmark.
