SINGAPORETO DECIDE JVC ASIAN RANKINGS CHAMPS

Ha Tae Kwon/Kim Dong Moon of Korea have overtaken Men's
Doubles former world #1 players Candra Wijaya/Tony Gunawan
of Indonesia this week on the JVC Asian Badminton Rankings
and are now also #1 in the world. Kim Dong Moon is
now back on top of two doubles categories as he is also in
the #1 position with Mixed Doubles partner, Ra Kyun Min.
Ha Taw Kwon has also proven his versatility in the
Doubles field as he and partner Chung Jae Hee are in
the #4 position in Mixed Doubles as well. If standings remain
as they are today, Candra and Tony must finish in a higher
position than their Korean counterparts in Singapore in order
to regain the top spot.
If Ha Tae Kwon is able to win the Singaporein
both men's and mixed doubles, he will guarantee his position
at the top of the JVC Rankings and the #1 seed at the JVC
Asian Badminton Championships in Kuala Lumpur this September.
The only other player with a chance to do this is Chinese
Ladies' Doubles specialist, Ge Fe, who is also currently
in the #2 position in Mixed Doubles
Top finishers on the JVC Asian Badminton Rankings will qualify
for prizes from JVC to be awarded at the 1999 JVC Asian Badminton
Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on September 15, 1999.
The ranking points are derived from the IBF's official world
rankings which are released weekly on Thursday morning at
10:00 GMT.
