PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian shuttlers for the Indonesiahave been given assurances that they will be safe in Jakarta.

There were fears for the safety of the players because of the unstable political situation in Indonesia.

The Badminton Association of Malaysia's (BAM) secretary, Zolkples Embong, said yesterday that the 12-member squad, who left on Sunday night for the tournament, had nothing to fear for.

"I have called up our embassy and they have given me the assurance that the situation in Jakarta was under control."
